I used a proto practice vest for a long time and always had trouble with the fact that it didn't protect my shoulders and upper arms.
This new thing is much better in different ways. First of all, it has harder and thicker foams, which means it will protect you better. It also protects the shoulders, and the whole are beneath the arms. Protection on the back is good too..
It is a little hard to put on and out, but once you are wearing it, it's comfortable and does very well what it's supposed to do: protect you.
I give this a 4 because there are some little unprotected areas that the foams could cover, without loss of movement or freshness.
